the DUCATI factory and museum VISIT!!!!!!!!!

In front, this last year's example of the indomitable 851 style was my first awakening view into the world of Ducati. In the later 80s, I was astride a cafe in Austin and heard this incredible thump from an 851 circling nearby. When I found the brilliant noise maker, it sat rather passive with no pilota to be found, but yet still ticking from heat dissipation. I must have spent nearly an hour going over the bike from top to bottom, somewhat expecting to be hauled off at any moment as a potential bike thief. Though not a Ducati, shortly thereafter, I bought my first used cafe style scoot.

From front to back we see Raymond Roche's World Championship 1990 #3 851 (ported to an 888, thus giving us an idea of the bike to come), followed by the 1987 #1 851, to a #1 750cc F1, to the #618 750cc TT F1, and lastly to the #1 750cc TT1 F1 Endurance champion.

The road less traveled (much less at low speeds) does not exist in Italy. Note the white striped line in the middle of the Autostrada coming back from Bologne. Finally figured out that it really meant, "drive as you need to"! Gottah love those Italians. Fantastico. Click on the thumbnail image to do the dance.

Got questions...?...Got milk...?...send eMail to Jim Goodlett if you got either!!
