upon the Isle, we noted quite a few geese...loud male
geese at that...the males stood tall and hovered over
a nearby nest...given that this Isle has no [dry]
roadway leading to it, predators would have hard time
(save for gators and snakes) getting across to poach
eggs...
well camflauged into the pine straw on the ground,
a female lays dead still atop a nest while her mate
starts honking a warning that anyone entering the
air space was in for a viscious biting if not beating...
we looked at these two and 4 others from a distance
and then scampered off the Isle to leave them to their
child rearing to come...really was quite spectacular
to be in the midst of...
